What to know before you sail

Terminals, Crossing & Arrival

The QE IV Ferry operates from Gallows Bay, Christiansted, St. Croix, to Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas. The crossing takes approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours. The ferry runs Wednesday through Monday (closed Tuesdays), departing St. Croix at 8:00 AM.

Check in at the Gallows Bay Marine Facility at least 30 minutes before departure, with a strict 15-minute cutoff — if you're not checked in by 7:45 AM, you won't board. The Gallows Bay facility is in Christiansted on the north shore of St. Croix. If you're staying in Frederiksted on the west end, allow about 25 minutes by taxi. No passport is required — a government-issued photo ID is sufficient for this domestic USVI route.

The QE IV allows up to 3 checked bags at 49 lbs each for $15 per bag. Additional bags are $25 each. Oversized items like surfboards and bicycles start at $35. Plan your luggage accordingly.
