What to know before you sail

Terminals, Crossing & Arrival

The ferry from Cruz Bay to Charlotte Amalie takes approximately 45 minutes — longer than the Red Hook route because it traverses more of St. Thomas's southern coast. Departures from Cruz Bay's main dock (Loredon L. Boynes, Sr. Dock) operate several times daily, though less frequently than the Red Hook ferry.

The Cruz Bay dock is right in town — restaurants, shops, and the National Park Visitor Center are within walking distance of the waiting area. If you're coming from beaches or resorts elsewhere on St. John, taxis to Cruz Bay run regularly. Allow about 15 minutes from Trunk Bay or Cinnamon Bay.

This is a good option if you're heading to the airport or staying near Charlotte Amalie — the Edward Wilmoth Blyden IV Marine Terminal is about 10 minutes from Cyril E. King Airport by taxi, compared to 25 minutes from Red Hook. If you're catching a flight, this route can save you meaningful time and taxi fare.

No passport required for this domestic USVI route. Tickets are available at the terminal window or online at stjohnticketing.com. You'll arrive at the Blyden Marine Terminal on Veterans Drive in Charlotte Amalie. Taxis are available outside the terminal, and downtown Charlotte Amalie shopping is within walking distance.
