Varlack Ventures and Transportation Services operate passenger ferries from the Edward Wilmoth Blyden IV Marine Terminal in Charlotte Amalie to Cruz Bay, St. John. The crossing takes approximately 45 minutes — longer than the Red Hook route because it traverses more of St. Thomas's southern coast.
The Charlotte Amalie terminal is on Veterans Drive, about 10 minutes from Cyril E. King Airport by taxi. This makes it a convenient departure point if you're coming straight from a flight. Metered parking at the terminal is limited to two hours with steep overstay penalties, so take a taxi if you're heading to St. John for more than a quick trip.
No passport is needed — this is a domestic USVI route. Tickets are available at the terminal window or online at stjohnticketing.com. Baggage costs $4 per bag.
You'll arrive at the main ferry dock (Loredon L. Boynes, Sr. Dock) in Cruz Bay, St. John. Cruz Bay is immediately walkable from the dock — restaurants, shops, and the Virgin Islands National Park Visitor Center are all within a few minutes on foot. Taxis meet every arriving ferry for those heading to Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, or resorts and villas elsewhere on the island.
