What to know before you sail

Terminals, Crossing & Arrival

The ferry from Setting Point, Anegada, to Road Town, Tortola, takes approximately 75 minutes. Road Town Fast Ferry and Speedy's operate this route, though departures are limited to a few days per week. Check the schedule carefully and plan ahead — if you miss your ferry, the next departure may not be until the following day or later.

The Setting Point dock is on the south side of Anegada. If you rented a vehicle during your stay, you'll need to return it before heading to the dock. There are a few restaurants and a small bar near Setting Point if you arrive early. Anegada has no customs or immigration for this route — it's a domestic BVI trip.

The 75-minute crossing traverses open water north of the Sir Francis Drake Channel. Seas can be rougher on this route than on the shorter inter-island crossings, particularly during winter months (December through April) when trade winds strengthen.

You'll arrive at the Road Town ferry terminal in downtown Tortola. The terminal is walkable to the main shopping area in about 10 minutes. Taxis are available outside the terminal for onward travel to the north shore beaches, Cane Garden Bay (about 20 minutes), or West End (about 20 minutes). If you're connecting to a flight, the airport (Terrance B. Lettsome on Beef Island) is roughly 25 minutes by taxi from Road Town.
